Your solicitor will send out a draft contract to the buyer's solicitor who will then raise enquiries regarding the contract that your solicitor will reply to. At this stage a date for the survey on your property should have been set and a proposed exchange and completion date.

Contracts

Exchange of contracts is one of the milestones in the home buying process. The exchange takes place between two solicitors yours the seller and the buyers after all searches received, satisfactory replies to enquiries, mortgage offer in place and all preliminary work completed. This is the point of no return once contracts have been exchanged the buyer has committed to buy and the seller has committed to sell.

Completion date will then be formally agreed between both parties and the date will be put into the contract.

Completion is when the outstanding balance is transferred from the buyer's solicitor to your solicitors account. Your solicitor will call you when the money has cleared and is sat in their client account and will inform us the estate agent to release the keys to your buyer.
